November 5th: Potholes in Mexico
We left Tampico bright and early Wednesday morning. We took the shittiest road we’ve been on so far. It was a day of dodging, dipping, ducking and dodging potholes everywhere. A very slow moving and tiring day. We made it to La Guadeloupe Wednesday and again went straight to the beach for a swim. After dinner we went straight to the room and chilled out. I think we were all asleep by 10 pm.
The roosters woke us up before sunrise this morning, which was fine since I didn’t sleep well. Today we hit much better roads and made it to Coatzacoalcos. Every now and then we hit some rough roads but nothing like Wednesday! Late in the afternoon we rode in some brief rain, but it felt so refreshing that we didn’t bother with rain gear. We are getting really close to Guatemala!
The last two days we rode a total of 523 miles. I am hot and smelly. Raccoon eyes are in full effect. Life is good!
