Packing for 4 months on the road

Everything I need to take with me for 4 months has to fit within these two saddlebags and a tour pack.

17 days to go…

Packing is my biggest challenge at the moment. This is a bike trip and I know less is more. But I am a girl, and there are certain luxuries that I am willing to give up and others that I just am not (like mascara)! After this trial run of packing and loading the bike I should have a much better idea of space.

My first attempt of “stuff” to cram into my bike. I narrowed down significantly from this before leaving!

I mean, we are going to the equator. In the summer! It is going to be hot and humid. Plus, we are going into the mountains, so cold gear is a must. And, of course, you better have rain gear! Oh, and a helmet (don’t get me started on this topic).

And then there is maintenance items for the bikes - tire patch kit, jumper cables, tools, etc.

Stuff. Lots of stuff.

I had a dream last night that my contacts were stolen while we were on the road. Stupid. I woke up and was seriously mad at myself. And then worried about not having my contacts because I’m blind without them and definitely could not ride without contacts or glasses. Now I am even more mad that I’m worried about something that hasn’t happened yet. I cannot predict the future!! Ugh. Vicious cycle.

It will all workout. And all will be fine. Because, it always works out.

I will make it all fit. Because, creativity.
