November 12th: Guatemala to El Salvador

Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

For the past few days, I relaxed, took a nap or three, and enjoyed the beautiful villa we stayed at on Lake Atitlan.

Today, we woke before dawn and were on the boat back to our bikes around 7 am. We were slightly stalled waiting for the parking attendant to come and unlock the gate. But once that door was open, we headed out south and east!

We arrived at the border around 2ish. The line of semis to cross was unbelievable. One guy said it can take them up to 5 days to cross! We, however, rode right up to the front. After some confusing paperwork and processes, we were on our way again.

We stopped for the night in Playa Mizata. It is a beautiful beach town on the Pacific Ocean. Our hotel is run by a man from Chicago. Small world!

176 miles today. Plus we crossed the Guatemala/El Salvador borders.
