November 3rd: Mexican drivers

Roadside stop in Mexico

Roadside stop in Mexico.

Mexican drivers get it. They get how to merge. They get how to pass, and let others pass. It would appear chaotic but once you are in it, you can see it all works so well. Rush hour this morning in Monterrey was a good learning experience.

The people we have met are so helpful and patient!!! Our Spanish sucks but is getting better by the second because everyone is kind and polite and willing to help us out. We stopped at this tiny roadside stand for the best-grilled chicken. It was a challenge to communicate but we are figuring it out. I really love Mexico!

La Puente Chiapas

We rode through the countryside into Tampico. It is a beach town, but pretty run down. The road to get into town is beat to hell, which made for some interesting maneuvers. We checked into a hotel and headed directly to the beach for a swim. It felt so good to get into the water after a hot day on the bike.

323 miles today.
